A dance company like no other, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo will make their highly anticipated (Yes! I can’t wait to see this amazing dance company!) visit to Israel with performances at the Israeli Opera – Tel Aviv Performing Arts Center from November 8 – 11, 2011. These brazen ballerinas take classical ballet to comic heights, with impressive technique and huge toe shoes. The all-male drag ballet troupe will perform highlights from their repertoire, including the second act of Swan Lake.

The New York based company was founded in 1974 by dance enthusiasts with a playful perspective on ballet. The pleasures of parody are in its close resemblance to the original, and the Trocks, as they are known, perform classical and modern works to perfection, with a twist.  Performing en travesti (all female roles are performed by men) the lovelier and more graceful the performance – the funnier it becomes with the ever-present awareness that the dancer is a man. It’s serious art that is seriously funny.
