Walk on the wild side with Batsheva dancers – “Tigers On Both Sides” an evening of new works created, performed and produced by dancers of the Batsheva Dance Company. 16 short works in two programs will be presented from July 7 – 10 as part of Summerdance 2010 at the Suzanne Dellal Centre in Tel Aviv.

Anyone who has seen the Batsheva Dance Company in performance knows that this is a group of amazing dancers. Yet the unique quality of their stage performance relies not only on technique and physical ability – which they possess in abundance, but on the strength, intelligence, individuality and passion they bring. These evenings come entirely from the dancers, enabling them to unleash their creativity, and experience the creation of a dance work from start to finish – choreography, costumes, lighting, sound, and all other aspects of production.

Their inspiration comes from many sources:
“My starting point was a musical on the roof of a building in the biggest bed in the world” Matan Daskal
“My work is my journey. Instincts that happen during hours in the studio. Stubborness.” Shani Garfinkel
“My desire to create moments in which we remove layers of defense, definitions, moments full of life and emotion.” Shachar Binyamini

Produced by Shachar Binyamini, Bobbie Smith and Michal Sayfan, who also provided artistic guidance, the evening will include an installation created by Ella Rothschild and a musical piece, “Concerto for Grandmother” by Matan Daskal.

Program Aleph includes the works of: Matan Daskal, Shani Garfinkel, Noa Tzuk, Iyar Elezra, Ian Robinson, Yaniv Avraham, Bosmat Nossan, Ella Rothschild.

Program Bet includes the works of: Guy Shomroni and Rachel Osborne, Shachar Binyamini, Danielle Agami, Andrea Martini, Tom Weinberger, Bobbie Smith, Erez Zohar, Ari Nakamora.

A sense of the creative energy can be seen on YouTube, but there’s nothing like the full experience!
