Intimadance 2010 Ornament and Crime [Hebrew: Kishut VePesha], the annual dance festival of Tmuna Theatre, will take place July 29 – August 1. If the festival theme sounds unusual – that’s the idea. It is intended to function as a provocative focal point for the choreographers invited to participate in the festival, resulting in works that relate to the theme in diverse and unexpected ways.

Taking its title from a 1908 essay by Austrian architect and cultural critic Adolf Loos – Ornament and Crime is the third (and according to Mr. Ashbel – the last) in a trilogy of festivals co-directed by Nava Zuckerman (founder and artistic director of Tmuna) and Ariel Efraim Ashbel, coming after Pink-Green (2008) and Ugly (2009). The festival provides artists with the literal and figurative space to take risks, experiment with new forms and ideas, and have fun.

New work from Ran Ben Dror, Michal Gil, Anat Katz and Erez Ma’ayan, Idan Yoav, Efrat Nevo, Yasmin Farber and Rotem Tashach, will premiere at the festival, as well as
YouMake ReMake (YouTube) [Hebrew: Tzitut VePesha] – an evening of works created in response to YouTube, curated by Ariel Efraim Ashbel and Renana Raz. Smadar Yaaron’s Death of the Dervish, created for Intimadance 2008, will be performed in a new, expanded version.

The festival takes place at Tmuna Theatre, 8 Soncino Street, Tel Aviv. Tickets and information: 03-5611211
